Interesting. If the article is a re-release (or more generously an update) of an old article, the notion of Intel selling expensive chips into low-margin markets is nevertheless interesting. Those 55% margins might suffer. What the article did not say was whether a PC designer had to use RDRAM or whether the chip just included a Rambus controller and a designer could use ordinary SDRAM. Since the processor is a Pentium II, using either would be advantageous. Unfortunately, I don't have any info on that.
