To Uncle Frank: I list a "basket" of stocks at your suggestion as you know. That basket is accurate. However, in my basket or in my rabbit stew is the equivalent of one horse and one rabbit (more properly several of each). My major holdings are concentrated in telecom for starters. (SUNW an exception as is CSCO - I just couldn't sell more of either when I switched into telecom).

Major holding are QCOM, LOR, UNPH, for terrestrial wireless, satellite and fiberoptics.

NT and LU are major base or core holdings.

Sun and Cisco are major holdovers from a previous investing life.

TXN is because I thought it would successfully move to DSPs and be a key semiconductor telecom supplier (as well as internet).

And another major holding is SFE which is my "agent" in the internuts.

The others such as Ciena, Globalstar, Leap Wireless etc. are smaller but where I see potential.

Then I have "experiments". Small investments to follow for possible future emphasis.

So I try to practice my approach, concentration on areas, leaders in those areas. (But you are right, the number of companies is probably too large.) (But cheer up, I weed out and put the money into what I think have the best prospects when I see opportunities - an example is SFE which is new to me.)

You are also right, I have a high risk/reward bias, but that is actually based on a lifetime of investing where I have tried just about every approach possible and found that high risk high reward paid off best for me - especially with careful up front choice and ruthless weeding when a stock falters in its fundamentals.

Chaz too
