"today's Fry's ad shows a WD 13GB ultra DMA/66 HD for $169" Overall, the 60 to 70 drives I am monitoring dropped 5.7% in price for the month of May. 6.0% is typical. Price drops were more frequent earlier in the month. Also, the book to bill ratio for semiconductors continued positive for the month of April but the ratio dropped from 1.30 to 1.28. The bookings increased from $1.15b to $1.31b but the shipments also rose from $0.87 to $1.02b. The WD DMA/66 is 5400 rpm drive that is likely having trouble competing with a 13.6 gb Maxtor. I show that same drive selling for $220 two months ago. Mark M
