DELL SHIPS NEW PENTIUM® III 550 MHz PROCESSOR

ROUND ROCK, Texas, May 17, 1999 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL), the

Intel® Corporation's Pentium III 550 MHz processor on select models of its PowerEdge®
servers, Dell Precision™ WorkStations, OptiPlex® business desktop PCs and Dimension®
desktops.

The 550 MHz version is Intel's most advanced Pentium III processor. Features include:

3-D streaming audio and video for more realistic and responsive game capabilities and

Improved animation capabilities for enhanced imaging and more realistic characters.

Enhanced imaging that permits complex presentations and graphics to have increased
color depths, frame rates, and faster image access time.

Smoother video streaming for viewing motion video files.

Improved speech recognition capabilities offering faster response time and improved
accuracy for more natural communication.

models: Dimension XPS T, designed for home and small business customers; OptiPlex GX1
and GX1p desktops, tailored for corporate users; Precision WorkStations 210 and 410, Dell's
