Tim, I found this interview with David Nagel, AT&T's chief technology officer and president of AT&T Labs on the AT&T thread. It discusses what T thinks they can do and how it will unfold. It's a little disjointed and in the end it starts talking about Project Angel without really saying clearly what this is. Anyway, I the last part talks about switches - Do you plan on using the switches you own through the acquisition of Teleport Communications Group to support your local residential telephony? We sure do. One of the reasons we bought TCG is because they not only have the local switches but they have fiber loops in a lot of the metropolitan areas. Those are also very useful for tying stuff together in a very high-speed, seamless way. Message 9857415 Are you familiar with TCG? What area of the network will they be using these switches? Could they be in some way competitive to HLIT? Yes, it's all a little complicated because T has such a broad range of networks now and they seems to touch on many of them in this article without always telling you which one they are talking about.
