Hi MaryinRed, the live news feeds, are well positioned right above your ticker slots, it just helps to know what earnings, news, and announcements you are looking for. those who have the access to the live speed, have the edge! SAP(simple as that, LOL)! But news alone doesn't always make the price go up , you know that.
OT: do you know one of the very first uses for the telescope, back in galileo's time, was? The stock / market traders would have look-outs posted up on the hills , looking for ships that were returning from their journeys to the east. they could see the identifying flags on the ships and know the bills of laden for that ship, up to a 1 1/2 days earlier, than the rest. So they could place their bets in the commodities market of their day, knowing before anyone else, that "their ship was coming in"! LOL! Discovering this use for the telescope, looking out to the sea's surrounding Venezia & Florence, very huge fortunes were made, with almost no risk! :-) pays to read the news!
