Also, did anyone notice the recent article about Excite/Athome release of their broadband version of Excite in October. Is the Go2Net/Charter strategy to be up and running by year end?

Regardless, Exciite/@HOME is the largest BB cable company. Once the FTC allows the merger of Excite/@HOME and UMG (and I think, after sufficient hand wringing, the FTC WILL allow it) they will have access to some 34% of all cable ready homes.

What does this mean to GNET/Charter? Simply that until the equation is altered, they will be treated by the Street as the little fish in the big pond. But the beauty of all of this is that GNET/Charter/PA/VV doesn't have to be number one to be hugely successful. BB cable, in it's infancy, has room for multiple players, both big and small.
