Paul, Anand speaks: "I'm currently writing an article on how the K6-2/3 has evolved over time and whether or not it's truly a Pentium II/III alternative at this point in time." Let me guess, he will say "except for this and possibly that, the K6 is ALMOST but not quite ..."

It took perhaps 15 minutes to switch my PC from a CeleronA to a PIII/450. I downloaded the security patch to turn off the PIII ID. Have been running for days with zero problems and it IS cooler than my CeleryA/333 bumped to 375MHz.

The PIII is exactly as much faster in Win98 as I expected. And a bit faster yet at gaming. My 10-year-old son is suddenly far less serious about Quake since he saw my PIII in operation (I have yet to take his P266 on in a face-off ... I wonder why?)

My son's words to a friend were "I know I'll get that PIII once Dad has his Copper-Thing." Then all I heard from his room was ... "Cool!".
