Eugene -- I made a pile of money going long in the last month and added to it considerably going short (actually in options only). The surprise my friend is that silly people are going to fight the trend and make really clever plays like buying into the downtrend and they are going to lose their money. Sometimes negative sentiment is not a good contrarian indicator, and sometimes it is -- you appear to take it for granted that it is always a good indicator. Good luck.
