Plextor utilities that came with my CD cause

Could this be an earlier version? Do you now own both the Plextor and the Yamaha CDRW?

Yamaha is the RW speed (2x vs 4x).

Yes.. that did not go unnoticed. For Data archival purposes on my part rewrites won't be that frequent so I let the rewrite speed difference not be a determining factor. Long as the writes are both 4x.

But your BSOD experiences is not music to my ears.... I'll have to make some immediate tests running the Plextor sw as soon as I get the machine...I doubt I will want to live with those circumstances if my machine behaves as yours does.
