FYI - GM's Delphi adjustment

Here's how we will be adjusting the GM's price for their distribution of Delphi.

In this case, the distribution was .7 shares of Delphi for each share of GM.

We'll use $14.35 for the amount of the distribution. This is
calculated as .7 * 20.5 which was Delphi's close on Thursday. It looks
like Yahoo is using $14.33 as the distribution amount, but the chart
hasn't been adjusted. Excite and CBS Market Watch both show an
adjusted chart that looks like they are using something close to this number. Quote Com is showing an unadjusted chart.

The GM adjustment will go out in tonights download as a split of
82.875 for 68.525.

68.525 = 82.875 - 14.35.

The 82.75 is GM's close on Thursday, the 68.525 is GM's close less
the distribution amount.

You can put it in your self in the chart program. Display GM, click
on Maintenance, then on add/edit split data. Us 5-28-1999 for the split date, and 82.875 for 68.525 for the amounts, then click cancel.

That's why these things aren't adjusted ahead of time.

In the next release we will be able to send out multiple update files per day so that corrections can be made as soon as possible.
