Burt, re:"Who is Dialogic and why are they worth $44/share to Intel? ..."

Hi Burt,

I was involved in a project involving computer telephony.

Dialogic is at the center as they provide hardware and software components. They are at the center of the standards that are developed and all the software is written to work on their hardware.

If you want to buy a phone switch based on open standards instead of from Nortel and other traditional switch manufacturers, you would see Dialogic all over your evaluation notes.

This confirms Intels move into the telephony switch market, challenging traditional market leaders and will lead the way to promote open standards on phone switches. Propietary phone switches are a closed market and Intel's vision is to allow you to hook up a phone as easy as you would attatch a printer to your serial port.

Intel used this strategy before- use technology and leadership to create standardized platforms for monopolized markets.

I also wonder how this industry will consolidate as the market turns to open standards and increased competition and also what it means to the wary trustbusters ever present looking over Intel's shoulder.

Just my opinion.

Jon :)
