I2 and Carl: I think what is even more important is that money invested in the upper half of the Nifty 50 (based on P/E ratios, i.e. "the Niftier 25") has still been unable to beat the overall market even after more than 25 years. Present-day investors who throw money at AOL and Yahoo and Ebay (or even Cisco and Microsoft) regardless of the valuations are well-advised to keep this in mind.
