It could be a more specific test for cholesterol measurement. Serum cholesterol can be divided into HDL (high density), LDL (low density), and VLDL (very low density). In genearl, HDL is good for protecting the development of cardiovascular disease (CHD), while LDL is the risk factor of the diseases. It is common to use HLD/LDL ratio to evaluate the risk of CHD. Thus, as a biomarker for CHD, total cholesterol may not valuable as the classified cholesterol. I hope it may be the case for 'complete cholesterol'. If it is true, the clinical value will be tramendously increased. Good luck.
