Is DVD AAPL's future ? its in QT's GUI and on latest system models

Any opinions on DVD being the next popular data storage medium ? AAPL's newest PowerBook and G3 models contain a DVD .

Soon after IBM inked its $1 bln Nintendo PowerPC order for its 400MZ low cost "gekko" , Matushita seemingly moved the "chip" to system potential (home networks) with a DVD drive .

At this point its a investors stretch , but shouldn't QT with a GUI be a Ninetendo-PowerPC "player" also ?

From a SI post 5/18/99 at IBM's thread here's Matushita's release:

>> "Isn't IBM's "gekko" PowerPC slated for Nintendo , and now for Matsushita home networks ?

----
" May 18, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
signed an agreement with Nintendo Co., Ltd. to jointly develop and supply digital home appliances.

By incorporating the functionality of Nintendo's next-generation home
video game machines into its DVD products, Matsushita Electric aims to gain market penetration for its DVD products and home network-enabled products of the future.

The two companies plan to develop three categories of products:

(1) video game machines for playing next-generation game software
(code-named "Dolphin" and sold under the Nintendo brand),

(2) video game machines equipped with existing DVD player
functions (sold under the Matsushita brand), and

(3) a digital platform with video game capability, able to control the devices connected to a home network code-named "X-21" and sold under the Matsushita brand).

Matsushita will supply the digital input/output devices . The IBM
"gekko" PowerPC order to supply Nintendo is in the $1 bln range .

Does Matsushita have Windows based system products now ?

Any thoughts as to how a PowerPC QT could be involved ?
