Axion Spatial Imaging Announces the Signing of New Distribution Agreements for its Multimedia Products
EDMONTON, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 1999--Axion Spatial Imaging Inc. (OTC BB:AXON), a leader in geographic data storage and retrieval technology, and producer of several Multimedia Titles; today announced the signing of nine new US Distributors each of whom specialize in sales to the US Educational/Reference markets.
These Distributors are located in California, New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee and North Dakota and sell through various channels including retail, direct, catalogue sales and e-commerce sites. Products available for sales include our award winning Axion 3D World Atlas (CD-ROM and Network Versions), Humanscope and Humanscope Professional, Axion Cartographic Map Projections of the World.
"AXION Multimedia Products -- Learning without Limits(TM)" are targeted toward Grades 5-12, College, and University with subjects in Sciences, Social Studies and Geography. The fast growing Reference/Education market saw a tremendous growth of 21.5 percent and 17 percent respectively over 1998, according to PC Data. Combined, K-12 and higher education software sales are projected to be over 1 Billion dollars for the 1999/2000 school year. (figures from Software Publishers Association). Axion intends to be represented by distributors in every state.
Axion has also signed agreements with ATR Multimedia in Brazil and Opera Multimedia in Italy for translated versions of the Axion 3D World Atlas. A German version of the Product is currently sold in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria and the English version sold in Holland using local publishers.
Other News: Axion has also signed an extension to its agreement with Telus Multimedia; a division of Telus/BCTel (CA:TI300:BCT.TELUS). This agreement licensed the use of Axion Multimedia products to Telus Multimedia for distribution to households over high speed Internet access. This is part of a $65 million (CND) trial approved by the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to provide interactive Multimedia content directly to 3,400 households.
