I say, "I am X." "X" is something that I have given a great deal of thought to and it has become one of my basic tenets-- one of the fundamental ways in which I define myself. You do not know me, but nonetheless you blithely state that I am not "X." You deny my belief. As a matter of fact you deny the very existence of the belief I claim. And then you are baffled that I take it personally.

Yet I am the judgmental one; I am the one who would endanger your belief.
