Don info on Sony's VAIO video software/board , no OS noted AAPL's new 400MZ G3 for $1,999 with a DVD looked fairly priced . Unfortunately Sony says it has no plans (yet) to sell the product elsewhere: ---- " May 12, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Sony Corp. announced that it has developed Giga Pocket, a type of software that records, replays and controls TV programs and video on a personal computer's HDD. Sony will preinstall the software on VAIO model PCs that will come equipped with an MPEG2 real-time encoder and TV tuner board. The Giga Pocket features ease of use, Sony said. For example, it enables users to set a TV program in advance from a TV program information site on the Internet. Giga Pocket comprises four programs: Giga Videorecorder, Reservation Wizard, Video Explorer and Playlist Builder. " nikkeibp.asiabiztech.com " Sony is considering a move to offer the software to the users of products equipped with MPEG2 real-time encoder boards, including the PCV-S620L5, which is already on the market. The Tokyo-based company has no plans to sell the software only or to engage in packaged sales with the board. " ---- Maybe after MacWorld AAPL's audio/visual offerings will be enhanced and your profits from investing in AAPL stock will be a deciding factor .
