I can't disagree with you on the face-saving aspect, but it goes both ways.

Milosevic has also played almost all of his aces and it is now just a matter of the degree of defeat.

However, the Rambuillet "ultimatum" was the result of Milosevic breaking his promises not to resume ethnic cleansing practices that he had agreed to halt last year.

Personally, I'm all for calling up Clint Eastwood and doing a "Eiger Sanction" on Milo, but then I guess that's coming from my reactionary side... <VBG>

But then again, it Milo knew that he was being personally targeted, it might adjust his mindset and willingness to come to terms.
