The knock against SUNW today is that companies have accelerated computer purchases ahead of Y2K. That the 4th quarter 1999 and 1st Quarter 2000 will show a slowdown since all the buying was done for Y2K preparation. SUNW admitted after their last earning report that this possibly would hurt earnigns. I think they were doing the honest thing to state the obvious, however, they do not know how earnings will shake out really. I think they were doing the old MSFT trick, "underplay expectations" and then beat the estimates. I believe that this is what they have done, that the Y2K buying slowdown is underplayed and they will do very well.
