Kaiser says Cybersurf may have something big

John Kaiser, writing in the May 26 Bottom-Fishing Report, says Cybersurf
merits attention. The company's 3web free Internet access system was
launched in August, 1998, but it was not until late-March that the stock
broke out of its entrenched 20- to 30-cent trading range. It reached a high
of $4.35. The company provides free Internet access in Calgary and
Edmonton. Free yes, but the hitch is that the 3web rigged browser always
displays advertising supplied by Cybersurf, Mr. Kaiser notes. Another
caveat is that users must fill out a questionnaire that creates a
demographic profile. These profiles are then used by Cybersurf to target
advertising at particular users. "Cybersurf certainly seems to be on the
right track in terms of an Internet advertising model," he says. The
evidence of that is a recent deal in which IBM plans to use the 3web system
for an advertising campaign. Mr. Kaiser concludes that if Cybersurf has
proprietary rights to its 3web system, the company could become extremely
valuable if cable giants decide to target ads using the Cybersurf system.
