What has this got to do with the U.S. Civil War?(Or as it is referred to here in Atlanta, The War of Northern Aggression).
Nothing.
"Final solution" is hardly a proprietary term, licensed by Hitler and copyrighted by the Nazis. It is quite apt in describing Milosevic's intended conclusion to the systematic eradication of the Kosovars and the assimilation of their property that began in earnest over twenty years ago. What the Serbs were doing in Kosovo over the last two years was only the closing or "final" steps of their plan to rid Kosovo of ethnic Albanians.
As far as the Civil War, trust me, don't even go there. It would only serve to detract from your credibility in your arguments about the Kosovo crisis.
Point in fact. more than 600,000 Americans died in the Civil War, not 500,000, almost all of them soldiers. More of those fatalities were the result of disease and infection than any other single cause. As for civilian deaths, a lower ratio of civilians (as in non-combatants) to soldiers were killed as a result of hostilities during the Civil War than any other "modern" war. This even includes my hometown of Atlanta which was burned to the grounds by Yankee aggressors.
No, don't even go there. You don't stand a chance. Not unless you are willing to devote considerable time studying up on the facts. |
