You would want an institution to buy the stock, it makes the demand for stock go up, less shares in the float and so on. Once a mutual fund or company buys a stock they tend to hold it for a long period of time. For the sake of the longs here, you must hope that the shares are sold to someone that is not going to dump them onto the market which would tend to be the little guy who tends to have weak hands. Think about the last time an institution like Fidelity sold say MSFT, T, GE, INTC, AMAT, etc....they just hold forever.
