I was speaking statistically, I thought. Your first 20 tosses could be heads. The coin has no memory. But I get your point. My point is you do have some idea of what probilities are if you tested system. You also have a historical record of max/min losses and wins. Never perfect in the future, but an idea of odds you face with your system.

It does become a game of % gains and losses. One of the negatives of Short selling is that a stock going from 20 to 25 is a 25% gain, a stock going from 25 to 20 in a short is a 20% gain and you require 20% more capital to short it.
