Ron, Right, right, and right! Yes the concern over the Andaman Straits is an aggressive PRC taking advantage of Indonesian weakness and overlording that trade route (probably a bigger concern 10 years from now).... Yes in east Africa, Arab slave traders have historically sent hundreds of thousand of Africans into slavery (10-15x the number of slaves ever shipped by Europeans and Asians combined) and are active even into this very day, selling slaves into Mauretania, Saudi Arabia, and some into Libya.

Africa IMO was moving strongly forward economically 1994-1995, but now has fallen into a series of wars all over the continent- the civil war in the Sudan, Eritrea/Ethiopia, the Congo, the Dem Republic of the Congo, Angola, etc., etc......
