The only thing better than a SCH long at this point is a Merrill short. I read the WSJ article and it seems clear that Merrill's plan is to cannibalize its most profitable business in order to survive. Their management is hopefully out of touch and I had to laugh at the part about the guy's son telling him to get a clue about the Internet.

The day of the 200 dollar commission is over. Merrill is a 30s dinosaur and the Internet is the comet that changed the climate forever. Schwab has adapted brilliantly. Look how confident the Chuckster looked during the news segments as if to say, bring em on, we'll eat em for lunch.

I'm more certain ETrade will be around in ten years than Merrill.
Also look forward to 24.95 commissions at Schwab once Merrill goes forth with 29.95.
