Sears <S.N> to advertise on Microsoft <MSFT.O> HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., June 1 (Reuters) - Sears, Roebuck and Co., the second largest U.S. retailer, said Tuesday it signed a two-year, multi-million dollar deal to advertise across the Microsoft Corp. MSN network of Internet services. Starting today, Sears will become the largest advertiser on the MSN HomeAdvisor online real estate service (www.homeadvisor.com). The Sears online marketing program is designed to reach a broad consumer audience through banner advertisements, fixed placements, sponsorships and promotional advertisements across a diverse range of MSN Web sites, the retailer said. "We are aggressively expanding our online presence, and the MSN network of Internet services is a powerful vehicle that will help increase our visibility on the Web and help us drive traffic to sears.com," said Alice Peterson, vice president and general manager of Sears Online. In May, Sears began selling more than 2,000 major appliances, including the top six best-selling brands, on its own Web site (www.sears.com). "By advertising on MSN HomeAdvisor, Sears is gaining access to the premier Web destination for new homeowners and consumers who are actively shopping for homes," said Bryan Mistele, product unit manager, MSN HomeAdvisor. |
