[Bell Atlantic...ISDN pricing...]

Pat,

<<It'll be interesting to watch and see how successful the promotion is. The word's out
that ADSL is easier/cheaper/faster. Will ISDN continue to sell if customers know the
alternative will be available within 3 to 12 months? That's the big question, isn't it. Will
buyers wait. What's your take?>>

My initial reaction is mixed. All this from the company chairman who said "ADSL
technology is a short term solution..for the next 40 years".

The cynic in me says that the RBOCS "don't want to give away the store" and cannabalize
existing margins on other data services. They want to protect a revenue stream. I think
BA strategy folks got together and said ADSL is for high speed internet access...so let's
make our current ISDN offer - THE BEll Atlantic Internet Offer.

This strategy will delay ADSL interest if ISDN access is priced at 1/5th of ADSL. They really
are guarding the business T1 revenue stream and delay the inevitable.

The best thing that could happen is COMPETITION. We need cable companies selling high speed
internet access in BA territory.

This announcement is a serious effort to delay the success of ADSL. Maybe someone
should ask Ray Smith "why the sudden change of heart"?

Just Thoughts

Bob
