Concerning OIA:
I have currently gone through about half of the Online Investors Advantage home study (videotape) course, and have already used their techniques to make some profits in the stock market. I am looking forward to the second half covering options and more advanced strategies, but doubt if I will use them that much, as I tend to be rather conservative in my investments style. Considering all the allegations being spread on this site, I thought it might be good to share my experience with the program.
Is it expensive? Yes. However, it is giving me a way to combine technical and fundamental analysis to take a more disciplined approach to investing rather than relying on emotion and "tips". The profits made on my first two trades using their techniques have paid for the course. The course makes sense and is presented in an understandable manner. I have contacted the company by e-mail and telephone about various questions and have always received prompt, thorough, and courteous replies.
Is the information presented elsewhere? Yes. However, according to this criticism, we might as well do away with colleges and universities, since the information presented during those four years can also be found independently. I doubt, however, that I would have obtained the information by reading a dull text on technical analysis and trading strategies. With the videotapes (also provided to those attending live sessions), I can review the presentations at my own time and at my own pace. Also, I am sure that I would have never located, much less be able to utilize the tools available on Wall Street City without their presentation.
I am pleased with the course and can recommend it highly to those who wish to develop a disciplined, consistent approach to investing.
