Kevin Prigel's article was ok, but it didn't weigh heavily enough the difference in speed between ATHM vs. AOL and other ISPs. Specifically he wrote "AtHome had little to offer potential customers other than a faster connection ...". He then went on to say that the content portion of AOL makes it "look far superior in comparison to Excite AtHome."

What?? A faster connection by many multiples is a primary advantage that is worth more than anything AOL can offer content wise. In fact, I would wager that in areas in which AtHome & AOL are both offered, very few customers would choose AOL if they realized the difference in speed. Once you experience ATHM speed, how can you use a traditional modem? Way too frustrating.

Also, I think the author discounted the value of Excite. Excite was even picked by PC magazine (or one of the big computer mags) as the best portal, most customizable, etc.
