Bad Hard Drives, I have owned allot of computers. Here is my list of bad Hard Drives:

1992 Nec 386 - When to turn it on one day, the HD died.
1996 Brand new Compaq notebook, HD starts making a LOUD grinding and squealing sound, kept getting worse, warranty covered the new drive.

1997 WD 1.6 GB HD Bad sectors start showing up, more and more, I said I'll back it up tomorrow, turned on the computer next day, HD toast.

Do you want to talk about bad Zip drives & disks, how about the COD.

From my experience anything mechanical will fail. I'm not a tech, just a computer hobbyist.
