Speaking about digitalme...there was a product used at BrainShare called Whenever!

It was a digitalme product that looks and acted alot like ICQ only more robust with addition of file sharing and group chat. Well, AOL is not working on their own edition of AIM (AOL's Instant Messanger) that allows for file sharing and more.

They even have a version that allows you to add this functionality to a webpage (check aol.com. Follow the steps (make sure you're an AIM user already) and viola! Cut and paste the code into your personal homepage and you've got instant chatting and more.

This is something that digitalme should be doing. Something Novell should be moving either with partners (big or small) or their own software. Connecting resources is what NDS is all about and digitalme connects people with people. It's the ultimate "I'm here and available" software idea.

This would be something great if Novell had this software that people could download and use in the same manner. Just answer a few questions, add your email address then cut and paste some code into your website and you're all ready to go.

Everything else would be handled behind the scenes. The barrier to this great technology would be reduced to managing assets (email addresses, member lists?). Aby person/company could manage that much right?

I see opportunity here...some savvy entrepreneur is going to start up a company using digitalme as the foundation to lowering the barrier for the average person.

They will sell services such as this AIM software does -- making it so simple to create virtual communities or even you own slice of "heaven" on the internet.

If anyone has the VC connections...call me :)

ps - when I get this AIM software runnnig on my personal site, I'll drop you a note so you can see it for yourselves.
