Yeah I know robert and to be fair, I need to really get into cmgi before I bash it. Because it is a vc, it takes 10x the analysis than say, etoys does because you have to look at all the properties etc. I wish they would publish a book like "the wetherall way" like they did the warren buffet way because I need to figure out how he values companies and as you know that is a very subjective thing. However, in general terms eliminating all else it seems like a vc firm will profit most in frothy markets and least in bearish ones. That is just a guess.

BTW I was reading in that warren buffett way book about what he buys during inflationary periods... and I'm not completely sure all net companies would be excluded always from Buffetts model. Sure everything is too expensive for him to buy but in terms of company profitability within his guidelines etc. yahoo might qualify. Amazon would not though. A case is made that these highly profitable companies can actually benefit from inflationary climates.
