AMD and Cyrix worked on a spec together and that's the end of that story. They can work on specs untill they are blue in the face but the industry doesn't need another incompatible spec. AMD is also a non-event in the notebook world and we need to start addressing that. It will be years before they have a package for the low-power and thermal conditions of the notebook, perhaps never. Look, If I am a vendor I want the whole spectrum or they can stuff it. There is no way I am going to try to save a few bucks on my legacy motherboard equipped desktop offerings because the hidden costs far outweigh any beneifit: design, testing, marketing, et cetera.
