>>BKS keeps its cash<<

Not so fast. The WSJ has a page B8 article in today's paper entitled "Barnes & Noble Likely to Build Centers For Distribution if Ingram Deal Fails." From the article:

"Book retailer Barnes & Noble Inc. will likely face the costly construction of its own book-distribution centers is its planned acquisition of Ingram Book Group, the nation's largest book wholesaler, is ultimately rebuffed by federal officials.

"Many booksellers, including Amazon.com Inc., are increasing their numbers of distribution centers in a race to make any book available to any customer anywhere is the shortest possible time. Prior to announcing its intentions for Ingram, Barnes and Noble had said in September it planned to open two massive distribution centers in Reno, Nev., and Atlanta in order to serve its superstores as well as its burgeoning online operation. Those plans were shelved amid the planned Ingram acquisition."
