Sprint Conversion>

Top of the News
• After much speculation, Sprint announced it will convert its Sprint Spectrum customers in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore to
the nationwide Sprint PCS network. Sprint Spectrum customers have been using GSM, while the Sprint PCS network runs on
CDMA technology.

Beginning next month, Sprint Spectrum subscribers will receive information on how to switch to Sprint PCS service. Customers
must exchange their current phones and accessories for similar CDMA-compatible equipment. Although the equipment switch
will be free, some customers may have to get new phone numbers. The carrier plans to have all customers on the Sprint PCS
network by Nov. 1.

Sprint Spectrum was the first PCS licensee to launch, offering its service to customers in November 1995.
