It seems that everyone has been so bearish lately that the market is about to go on another big jump over the next couple of weeks. Not always true but frequently there is a run up in stock prices as you approach earnings month (expectation of earnings). A bear market helps this happen because people are thinking that the stock is under priced and earnings report will demand price appreciation hence people want to buy early. Usually the last three weeks going into earnings reports is up. Of course, if there is a huge run up, there will be a big let down after earnings.
