The Irish government has refused to grant entry visas for
Yugoslavia's footballers, making it impossible for them to
play the Euro 2000 qualifying match against the
Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.

The move follows Uefa's
announcement that the game must go
ahead, despite the Balkan conflict.

The Republic of Ireland could now
face sanctions from European
football's governing body over their
refusal to play the crucial qualifier.

Uefa had earlier warned that if the Yugoslav players were
refused visas, the Irish team could be thrown out of Euro
2000.
