It just struck me in rereading your post that I failed to fully understand your point.

Yes, I think that it does make sense to believe that if our universe is not itself infinite and eternal-- that there is a "before" our universe or an "outside" our universe-- then that at least implies that there is something outside of our universe, or something outside of that something, or however far you want to take it back, which is both infinite and eternal. So either way there is some evidence for both infinity and eternity.

Thanks. I hadn't looked at it quite that way before.
