[recent dspg action]

hi kevin,

regarding the recent action in dspg... i am inclined to agree with you that we are seeing the fallout from the audc ipo... fwiw, my take is that the fast money saw dspg as a way to play the ipo (with dspg potential) and they were right... for dspg, say from 18 to 28 = over +50% ... and for audc at the end of the first day of trading = a little over +20% ...

and believe many saw the audc ipo as potentially running much higher... maybe +100% .. which it probably could have reached if audc was a usa company... when that didn't happen... now we're seeing sales to lock profits in ..

longer term... think audc is only gonna help dspg... certainly won't hurt window dressing for the next couple of earnings reports- from the most recent dspg press release:
"DSP Group will record additional equity profits of approximately $9.2 Million in the June quarter, 1999, earnings report... (and)

As a result of the exercise of this option by the underwriters, DSP Group will record an additional profit of $2.4 Million, in the current quarter's earnings report..."

also fwiw... magnum hasn't really bothered me all that much (tho i certainly could be wrong in my take ).. true enuf, they appear to have made out like bandits... but we all certainly had our chances to play the same game at even lower prices after they anteed up ...

believe the magnum deal put in a floor on price at a time when dspg could have been in free fall.. my guess is that dspg decided they would rather deal with devil they knew and were able to hammer out a (contractual) framework on how magnum could play this game which was acceptable to both parties (we should all probably note when their year is up) ... and reinforce the war chest at the same time...

many knew the potential of audc and the rest of dspg... and if dspg had hit single digits, unsympathetic $ could have a big piece of the company now... if that were to have transpired, am not so sure the longer term investors would have particularly benifited... for example it is not that hard to imagine a scenerio where such parties would be dumping big time right now....

fwiw... globes is a-ok... probably the best online window on israeli business... personally probably skim it just about every day... (i also have a few other israeli tech plays)... sometimes globes is a little rough around the edges... but that can cut both ways... sometimes a few facts get garbled/ sometimes info sees the light of day for the first time... (including info not scheduled for release yet)

if you haven't already, check out tech dual.. which altho defunct (ran for the last year) is still linked and has much interesting and valuable info (altho not much on dspg) .. both shlomi and omer are very knowledgeable and are very generous passing along info/analysis ... whenever i notice them posting either here or on yahoo, i pay close attention ...

best o luck
