Good evening Don;
I have a few questions for you regarding the current discussion. In Matthew 11, the Messiah pronounces judgment on certain nations because of the knowledge they had of Him.
Matthew 11 (American Standard Version)
11:21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 11:22 But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you. 11:23 And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt go down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in thee, it would have remained until this day. 11:24 But I say unto you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. My question is this. If all sinners are ultimately annihilated, in what sense could it be "more tolerable" for some of these obvious sinners? Where is the justice of God if all the unsaved simply cease to exist?
In this life it is not uncommon for the worst of sinners to receive riches and honor from the world while the most precious saints of God live poor and difficult lives. Would you agree that many of these sinners would choose to live as kings now and accept annihilation rather than wait for Yeshua's timing and future reward?
