Bipin I love your short stories.
First before anything lets clear up one point and that is it
would take many weeks to dry up the excess out there and
more capacity is coming on line.
Using MUEI as a tool makes perfectly good sense but what
real effect would they have on the overall market? What percentage
of PC sales comes from MUEI?My impression is they have a
miniscule portion of the market. Why would HP,COMPAQ,Packard Bell
or any of the other players chase MUEI?
The constant postering of MU investor relations claiming no
excess does not seem to jive with market conditions.Perhaps
their yields have decreased due to conversion problems.
I remember hearing figures of cost for 16Megs at 12-13 and
4Megs at 2.75-3.25.This may be industry numbers but if they
are accurate then noone making 4Megs and 16Megs will show
any profit next quarter and will probably sustain huge losses.
Currently 16Megs are at 11.50 and falling.4Megs are at 2.85-3.25
and falling.
