INFO ON CREATIVE'S 3D BLASTER PCI + QUAKE

What's going to make money for Creative Labs now is Id Software's Quake, especially after some comments I read after the Electronic Entertainment Expo. According to various people who attended Id Software's booth and Creative's they said the following about the differences between the 3d blaster accelerated version and the one without:

- Low res (320x200) looked like high res (640x480) because of hardware smoothing technology in 3d blaster (objects don't get blocky up close).

- Smoother (30+ fps) at higher resolutions.

- Game's effects (lighting, monsters, etc.) looked much more impressive.

- Res can be toggled depending on machine (mid range 486 with PCI wouldn't be able to handle the basic calculations for 3d blaster in high res). Due to things like the hardware smoothing (called Bi-Linear filtering) low res looks like high res (640x480) and high res is just jaw dropping with no equal.

Furthermore, this game has not been FULLY optimized yet for the 3d blaster, it's merely what's been done so far for showcase at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Id says the game will be out in shareware in a couple of months and that's when the gaming revolution (PC users getting 3d cards instead of upgrading to the ridiculous requirements I pointed out on Stock Talk before - P166 with 24 megs of EDO RAM and Matrox Millenium 2 meg WRAM video card).

Creative Labs is the only company that will have a compatible 3d card ready at this time. They will be the only source for gamers to turn to for awhile if they want to play Quake the way it was meant to be played.

Quake is going to be the best selling game of this year by far (maybe the next year as well). Creative Labs has the distribution to match the demand Quake will create for 3d video cards.

Creative will start going up significantly once the next quarterly report hits because of profits made mainly from their new Graphics blaster video cards, their new Sound Blaster 32 Plug n Play sound cards and the beginning sales of the 3d blaster PCI.

I'm expecting the major increase to hit about a month after the 3d blaster is released (September). By then the hype will be in the air and profits will be rolling in. And at that point, they will still have no real competition.
