I, too, am a bit frustrated by the overly cautious approach. While I don't believe in over-doing the PR, I do think that it is the job of the board of directors and their appointees to maximize shareholder value. Plenty of other shareholder groups have intervened, or tried to, when companies are too conservative. While I don't necessarily advocate this in the case of Ampex, Bramson et. al. should realize that PR is one of the necessary evils of the stock market. If public awareness boosts shareholder value, then that needs to happen.
