British Telecom has begun offering selected customers trial tests of
Freetime, a telephone service that is free, but interrupts talkers
every two-minutes with 10-second advertisements. Similar systems are
already in use in Sweden, Denmark and Italy, "where they have proved
to be popular with teenagers and cash-strapped households but an
