From Skyreport (www.skyreport.com)

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a Silicon Valley
venture-capital firm, plans to buy about 18 percent
of KaStar Satellite Communications, a company that
will offer high-speed Internet access via satellite.

Two news sources have reported that this latest
investment in KaStar follows recent interest in the
company from the likes of Rupert Murdoch and John
Malone. KaStar, which hopes to launch its service
in 2002, plans to use high-frequency satellites for
speedy, two-way data transmission.

Kleiner Perkins helped launch Internet-access provider
At Home and could help generate enthusiasm for an
eventual KaStar public stock offering.
