Well, actually, option contracts can be traded in any size - from 1 lots to...well...I haven't seen anything greater in size than a block of 2,000 contracts traded a few years ago.

However, each contract is the equivalent to buy or sell 100 shares of the underlying stock at a specific strike price up to a specific expiration date.
