NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Global Intellicom Inc. (GBIT) said it expects to report net income of 2 cents a share for its fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, its first profitable quarter since it went public last year.
The company expects to report fourth-quarter revenue of $18 million, Chief Executive Norman Muller told Dow Jones. For the full year, Global Intellicom will report revenue of $42 million and a loss of 31 cents a share, he said. In an interview, Muller said the company's revenue rate in the fourth quarter is more indicative of the company's earnings potential.
Global Intellicom is expected to release earnings early next week. The New York company manufactures, develops and distributes computer software, hardware and wireless technology to corporate, government and educational institutions in the U.S. ''We like to believe we're a 21st century systems integrator,'' Muller said.
The company's outlook for 1997 appears favorable as well. Based on its current assets, Global Intellicom expects revenue this year to increase to more than $100 million and said it should end the year with a ''reasonable profit,'' Muller said.
One of the company's major products is a speech recognition software application that should be a major contributor to earnings this year, Muller said. The company's Speech Solutions unit will offer software that allows programmers to add International Business Machines Corp.'s (IBM) VoiceType Dictation System 3.0 speech recognition software to Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) Windows NT and Windows 95 applications.
That product, which has high gross margins, will be ''a major contributor to the bottom line and cash flow in the second half of the year,'' Muller said. In addition, Global Intellicom recently signed an agreement with Sun Microsystems Inc. (SUNW) to be Sun's authorized seller.
''We're in a fairly good position to grow the company at this time,'' Muller said.
The company provides products through five units: Global-InSync Inc., which makes servers, workstations and personal computers for end users in both the commercial and government markets; Vircom Inc., a value-added reseller that provides communications, computer and wireless mobile computing technology; National Computer Resources Inc., which provides departmental, company and enterprise-wide client-server systems; NevCor, which markets technology to businesses through a nationwide network of resellers; and Advanced Technologies Group/Speech Solutions, which develops technologies in speech recognition, telephony and sales force. |
