Japan's cdmaOne Subscribers Exceed 1 Million June 3, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Japanese cdmaOne subscribers exceeded 1 million as of May 26. The cdmaOne is a cellular phone system jointly provided by DDI-Cellular group and IDO Corp. These groups operate in different areas, but jointly structured a nationwide network system. The service went nationwide on April 14. IDO covers mostly the Kanto and Tokai areas, while DDI-Cellular group covers Hokkaido, Tohoku and Western Japan. (Nikkei Communications)
