No need to be "abashed", neocon. I have been away from this thread for so long that I was simply startled to get a post emanating from it.

Only today have I taken a look at the thread, and find that my name has been extensively taken in vain <g>, in connection with the following post:

Actually, as I recall, that post was not meant to be a parody specifically -- well, let's say exclusively -- of Johannes' style. He was by no means the only one hurling heavy-duty insults around. That post was only one in a series of unsuccessful attempts to get people to clean up their debating language, by showing them how ridiculous it looked.

The fact that Dipy took it seriously is an indication of how far things had deteriorated since the publication of my "Insults Anthology" some months earlier:

And, as I see, the situation is now, in my opinion, irreparably awful. Dan Schuh, after having been stung repeatedly by a million wasps, finally went bonkers, and one of the wasps got him expelled. Now pezz -- of all people!! -- is being demonized.

And so far, apparently, the ONLY person to have ever apologized for anything he (or she) said is Johannes. It is really too bad that no one saw fit to follow his example, or at least to draw a lesson from it.
